The dissertation journey was an exhilarating adventure for me as a woman of color, filled with challenges that tested my limits but ultimately enriched my life and my marriage. I would gladly relive it all because it was incredibly rewarding! I eagerly embrace every opportunity to share my dissertation topic on Othermothering and its transformative potential as a cultural brokering framework for Black students and families. My keynote, "Mother Me," along with my upcoming book set to launch this winter, celebrates my lived experiences with Othermothering. It emphasizes how, as women, we should embrace our softness as our greatest strength, us that's everyone—regardless of status or age—needs the love of a mother, and highlights the power of self-mothering!
